Formed
in 2005, Larry
Ravenswood & The Aura is a 3-piece Pop/Rock band from Minneapolis.
The
sound is unique, never constant, and unassuming, taking from various sources;
U2, Coldplay, Pixies, & Bowie just to name a few of the influences. Also, a
touch of 80's dance pop will be present on occasion. The band will put out a
raucous guitar rock song and follow it up with a beautiful stunning ballad that
would mesmerize an audience. Larry plays his acoustic guitar like it's an
electric - that needs to be punished. His vocals and lyrics are dark and even a
little haunting - a theme throughout is how everyone's choices define us and
create our destiny. But don't think this is depressing stuff - in the end, it's
uplifting, like a bittersweet dream. Nichole on bass and Eric on drums give the
sound backbone and a little bit of devil-may-care attitude.
In
their short duration, The Aura has played a few prime venues in the Twin Cities
which includes 7'th Street Entry, The Hexagon Bar and a particularly new and
upcoming club called Club Underground. They also have played at more intimate
locations such as Acadia Café. A very special treat was the good fortune of
playing at the Minnesota State Fair in the summer of 2005.
